Mardi Love Workshop 1:

Friday Nov 27 3-5pm
Sweet and Saucy Combos

Mardi brings a few combinations created for pittsburgh. movements are carefully broken down and drilled. Mardi will also discuss how she approaches the audience and stage presence.

Mardi Love Workshop 2:

 Saturday Nov 28 3-5pm
The Besh O Drom Choreo

Mardi will teach an exerpt from the Besh O Drom choreography, featured in the Le Serpent Rouge Revue. Covering not only the movements but also the personality of the dance, students will get a glimpse of how Mardi builds dances.

 

Zoe Jakes Workshop 1:

Saturday Nov 28 12:30-2:30pm
Shimmy and Spin!

Shim Sham Shimmy! Pt. 1-Layering, walking, combinations, lots of tips and tools of the trade to get your absolute best shimmy ever! 3/4 shimmies, overshimmies, travelling steps to make your head spin!
Spins till your head spins Pt. 2-just like the title says, all those spins ya love and how to do them....kick spins, off balance spins, whip spins, reverse turns, double whip spins.....Whew!

Zoe Jakes Workshop 2:

 Sunday Nov 29 2-4pm
Pops, hits and the art of isolating

We will be drilling those elusive concepts to take pops and locks to the next level by mixing the liquid smoothness of a snake with hits and stops that look almost inhuman. This workshop will focus on ways to dance with passionate expression while maintaining control and grace.

   

Rachel Brice Workshop 1:

Friday Nov 27 12:30-2:30pm
Driling the Fundamentals.

This 2 hour class will include:
1. Short Viniyoga sequences at the beginning and end of class to both prepare and compensate for Belly Dance movements.
2. Simple and high energy drills emphasizing technique for slower tempos.
3. If time permits, one or more combinations using the movements drilled in class.
This class will focus on the simple, clean and relaxed, and could be considered physically challenging. Please bring comfortable stretchy layers for warming up and cooling down, and a yoga mat. All levels are welcome.

Rachel Brice Workshop 2:

 Sunday Nov 29 4:30-6:30pm
Drum Solo Improvisation

Feeling at ease with rhythm, tempo, and dynamics is an important part of a satisfying improvisational performance. This workshop will re-acquaint you with the basic rhythms for Belly Dance, will include up-tempo drills and short phrases for drum solos, and lead-and-follow improvisation. We will begin and end with short, gentle Viniyoga practices.

May be considered physically challenging. Please don't eat 1.5 hours before class. Bring comfortable stretchy layers for warming up and cooling down, a yoga mat, and a water bottle. All levels are welcome.
