In this 8 week series, we will cover the isolations & clean technique that this dance form requires. We will focus our energies on the more fluid-like movements such as mayas, circles, rolls, undulations etc. We will also work on the more staccato like movements (ie shimmies, accents etc) but soften them for a more juicy flowing movement. Maria will break down moves thoroughly, for beginners but will also clean up and add insights for the more intermediate & advanced dancers who may choose to attend. I encourage experienced dancers to attend this class as well.
The beginning and end of each class we will warm up & cool down covering conditioning techniques for this dance . Please wear comfortable clothes and bring water & a yoga mat.

In this 'All Levels Community Class', we will build a fun choreography with a focus on smooth, relaxed energy, community and clean technique of course! This is an all levels class & a large focus on having fun and enjoying dancing with many people from different backgrounds. This is not a pre proffessional choreography, but more a bonding and community focused class. We may perform this piece sometime in the spring 2010, but no commitment for performing is required.
The beginning and end of each class we will warm up & cool down covering conditioning techniques for this dance . Please wear comfortable clothes and bring water & a yoga mat.
Some experience is required.There is no drop In option for this class so if you'd like to be a part of this choreography, sign up in advance!

Just as physically intense as the old 'Advanced Classes', Maria will build upon the beginner classes covering mayas, soft shimmies etc. adding layers and traveling movements, spins & some attention to stage presence. This series will be challenging for the mind & body. Attention to smooth sweeping gestures and footwork will be practiced as well as some combination's & homework assignments!
The beginning and end of each class we will warm up & cool down covering conditioning techniques for this dance . Please wear comfortable clothes and bring water & a yoga mat.
